Objectives: 
  • To discuss the relevance of the concept of territorial cohesion;
  • To show the importance of scale in the conceptualization of territorial cohesion;
  • To create a database to support the building up of indicators;  
  • To propose a set of indicators aiming at measuring the evolution of territorial cohesion at different scales;
  • To evaluate the way the existing territorial management tools compete (or not) with territorial cohesion;
  • To analyse the impacts of sectorial policies in territorial cohesion; 
  • To discuss the role of spatial planning and urban policies in territorial cohesion.
