Objectives:

To identify which of the economic policies of the Member States are most relevant to the issue of economic and social cohesion;

To determine the degree to which economic and social cohesion is an explicit objective of such policies and how such policies are conducted and coordinated to achieve this objective;

To evaluate the relative importance of EU Cohesion policy (both quantitatively and qualitatively) in the design and implementation of these Member State policies to achieve economic and social cohesion;

To develop a general typology of the existing approaches of the Member States to the attainment of economic and social cohesion.
